Jay McCarthy jumps up 15 spots (!) on the UCI World Tour Rankings this week to the #4 position, after his win at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. McCarthy edged out Elia Viviani (Quick-Step Floors) and Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) in the final sprint of the one-day event. Impey’s strong finish at Cadel strengthened his hold of the #1 position, while Richey Porte and Dries Devenyns round out the top 3.
“In this race, everything went well,” McCarthy said. “I was a bit disappointed with my performance at the Tour Down Under, but I came with confidence to Geelong and wanted to achieve a good result.”
